Brooklyn + Philadelphia + adorable jewelry with a statement = Brookadelphia.

I am super glad I stumbled across this company. They caught my eye on the Etsy homepage with a recently added gold “vote.” necklace.

Aside from this cute necklace (also available in silver by the way), there are earrings like these:

and necklaces like these:

So really, what’s NOT to love about them?

Jennifer Squires Photography

I love Jennifer Squires’ beautiful, simple photos and her devotion to earth-friendly business practices. She has an Etsy store which sells pretty pictures of flowers, food items, and scenic views - most all of them shot using natural light with no fancy computer manipulation necessary to achieve images you’d gladly hang on your wall or place on your desktop. I kind of feel like each photo makes me feel calm and really hope I can achieve such a feeling with my photos in the future. Not only that, but as she states on her website, she makes every stride possible reduce her environmental impact by taking steps such as using using natural lighting as much as possible, using recycled stationary when she must send by snail mail, but making every effort to do her business online instead, using digital image proofs rather than contact sheets and chemicals, etc. Check out her website here to see her advertising portfolio and read about how she strives to save the world with every photograph she takes, and visit her Etsy store, where you can buy photoprints like these:

Etsy Find: ES Designs

Monday, March 31st, 2008

I’m thinking of making this a weekly feature since I love Etsy so much. For those that don’t know about, it’s an online marketplace where people can sell their handmade objects - from jewelry to photography, clothing to notecards. Some items are vintage recreations/finds while others are entirely handmade and original, beautiful pieces of art.

Yesterday I decided I wanted to start wearing more rings and went on Etsy to find some pretty things to quench my thirst. I went through pages upon pages of the most recently added items in the rings section of jewelry and finally decided to just add a whole batch of sellers to my favorites and come back to it another day, when I wasn’t loving every single thing I saw.

The one store whose designs I fell head-over-heels for though, was that ofJewelery by Elizabeth Scott. She works mainly in sterling silver to create simple designs inspired by nature. All of her pieces are fairly simple in shape and design, with hammered out textures and botanical shapes.

Some of my favorites:

“Shoreline Ring” - looks like it was pulled right from the beach, made to look like “sand and reflections in water.”

“Linen Necklace” - textured with a legitimate linen pattern, very simple but I love it.

“Birch Bark Ring” - which was actually textured with birch bark for an extremely earthy and natural design.

“Ginkgo Leaf Earrings” - I didn’t even know what Ginkgo looked like aside from the pill form and it’s great for these earrings, as well as the several rings she made from one leaf each.

“Petal Necklace” - modeled after a hydrangea petal.

These are just a few of the adorable, affordable, earthy designs made by Elizabeth Scott for sale in her Etsy store. After revisiting it, I’m about to give in and buy the birch bark ring I think…

So what does everyone think about the idea of starting a weekly “Etsy Find” post?

Self-Taught Photographer Feature

Came across this artist’s shop page when perusing back posts on the Urban Outfitters blog today. She describes herself as a mostly self-taught photographer with some nurturing and training from two family photographers. Based out of Florida, she takes beautiful, simple photographs of vintage trinkets, natural objects, and flowers thus far. Her images look incredibly vintage for being so modern and I am completely in love with them.
