Etsy Find: ES Designs

Monday, March 31st, 2008

I’m thinking of making this a weekly feature since I love Etsy so much. For those that don’t know about, it’s an online marketplace where people can sell their handmade objects – from jewelry to photography, clothing to notecards. Some items are vintage recreations/finds while others are entirely handmade and original, beautiful pieces of art.

Yesterday I decided I wanted to start wearing more rings and went on Etsy to find some pretty things to quench my thirst. I went through pages upon pages of the most recently added items in the rings section of jewelry and finally decided to just add a whole batch of sellers to my favorites and come back to it another day, when I wasn’t loving every single thing I saw.

The one store whose designs I fell head-over-heels for though, was that ofJewelery by Elizabeth Scott. She works mainly in sterling silver to create simple designs inspired by nature. All of her pieces are fairly simple in shape and design, with hammered out textures and botanical shapes.

Some of my favorites:

“Shoreline Ring” – looks like it was pulled right from the beach, made to look like “sand and reflections in water.”

“Linen Necklace” – textured with a legitimate linen pattern, very simple but I love it.

“Birch Bark Ring” – which was actually textured with birch bark for an extremely earthy and natural design.

“Ginkgo Leaf Earrings” – I didn’t even know what Ginkgo looked like aside from the pill form and it’s great for these earrings, as well as the several rings she made from one leaf each.

“Petal Necklace” – modeled after a hydrangea petal.

These are just a few of the adorable, affordable, earthy designs made by Elizabeth Scott for sale in her Etsy store. After revisiting it, I’m about to give in and buy the birch bark ring I think…

So what does everyone think about the idea of starting a weekly “Etsy Find” post?
