I could really use your help!

Monday, April 6th, 2009

Hi everyone,

For those that know me, you know I’m in a Master’s degree program in Publishing at NYU. And if you know me really well, you know I’m in my final weeks of it and about going insane trying to get my capstone project finished up. If you’re a really, really nice person, or happen to know anyone who may fit the bill and have 5 spare minutes, I would reallllllllllly appreciate it if you’d take my survey (and/or forward it to ANYONE you may know who would be willing to as well) to help me gauge the audience for the project I’m working on. It’s not long at all and every answer or comment is so incredibly helpful!

Take the survey about the potential launch of an eco-friendly fashion and beauty magazine here.

And if you’re really, really interested, I made up a mock cover a little while back of the kind of magazine I’m imagining. Any feedback on it or the concept whatsoever would be awesome! You can check it out in a previous post here.

Thank You Thank You Thank You!

Talk to you all when I’m done and have both a social life free time (to blog with, yay!) again in two weeks!

Friday. Has been a very long day.

It’s been a long day. But Chris is always there for me.

Chris: You are, Kelly. You’re like a de-clawed, raised from birth polar bear.

Me: You know, i kind of like that. At least then I’m cuddly.

Chris: You appear quite cuddly. You have a good build for it.

A tidbit of thought.

I was talking to a good friend tonight, while in a melancholy mood. He’s the best to confide in because rather than play the sunshine and rainbows part, he always has a tidbit of interesting words which stick with me - whatever the topic - that are always filled with a tiny dash of irony and a sprinkle of humor.

Tonight, his words were:

“College is over. I think our awesome is done. Everything is now a compromise of our once lofty dreams.”

So sad. But true?

Phosphorescent and Bowerbirds at Mercury Lounge 2/29/08

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

It’s been a week and a half now since this show, but I’ve now finally gotten the images from the show posted. We skipped the first two bands at Mercury Lounge on Leap Day evening, February 29th since we had no idea who they were. Luckily, we got there just in time to nudge our way into a prime spot up front just as Phosphorescent started setting up. The boys hadn’t heard them beforehand, but I was psyched to see them. As well, I was just as or even more psyched to see Bowerbirds since I’d been listening to their album Hymns for a Dark Horse on repeat for the last 2-3 weeks. Phosphorescent played more songs than expected since the audience was loving them, and I think as a consequence Bowerbirds actually played a (great, but) pretty darn short set. When they finished, they made it pretty obvious they were done and the lights flipped on, no one expecting any encores or demanding them. Lucky for us, they played all the songs that get stuck in your head the easiest. Short, yet satisfying.

Click on the pictures to see the full album of photos from the show, including me wearing the weird, lens-lacking, supernerd, almost-hipster glasses in between bands.

If But When: The Portrait Session

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

On Sunday I met up with some great guys, the band If But When so that I could take a few promo photos of them for future use. They’ve got a terrific sound and definitely deserved some worthy photos to represent them.

They picked me up at my place and we wandered down near the water and the old Domino Sugar factory on Kent Ave. for some fun inductrial set-ups. It turned out to be an ideal area, with lots of different backgrounds to work with.

You can see the entire album of the photos I took by clicking any of the images below.
