I was talking to a good friend tonight, while in a melancholy mood. He’s the best to confide in because rather than play the sunshine and rainbows part, he always has a tidbit of interesting words which stick with me – whatever the topic – that are always filled with a tiny dash of irony and a sprinkle of humor.
Tonight, his words were:
“College is over. I think our awesome is done. Everything is now a compromise of our once lofty dreams.”
So sad. But true?

I think that’s very true. We have delusions of grandeur from our naivety. Once in the “real world” we come to realize that “our once lofty dreams” don’t come as easily as we had hoped. That it’s not just a matter of wanting and doing the same mediocre amount of work that got us through those last 16+ years. That it’s all not the same fairy tale that we’ve been force fed for years. College is over. We’re no longer in the kiddy pool.
